Kandy Day Tour

On this Kandy sightseeing tour, you'll visit several highlights of the UNESCO-listed city with Tony. Kandy, better known as the hill capital of Sri Lanka, is an attractive tourist destination. Its history dates back to the 15th century, when it was the country's last royal capital.

The city is located 115 km from Colombo and is the second largest city in Sri Lanka. Kandy has a wealth of culture around it; the Temple of the Tooth is the most popular attraction.

The center of the city lies in a valley that lies at 600 m above sea level. Kandy Lake is a man-made creation of one of the previous rulers and is now a picturesque focal point of the city.

Kandy is also home to an international cricket stadium and attracts thousands of cricket fans. Sports, religion, history and culture, Kandy has it all!

A day tour of Kandy should not be missed on your tour of Sri Lanka.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, founded in 1975, is a sanctuary for wild Asian elephants. The goal of the orphanage is to protect and care for the island's orphaned elephants. Since they are no longer able to live in the wild for various reasons, the elephant orphanage offers them a home. The elephants are provided with a natural habitat where they are taken to the river twice a day and elephants under the age of three are bottle fed by volunteers.

Royal Botanic Garden

The Botanical Gardens in Kandy are known for their beautiful flowers and trees; especially orchids. The title "royal" comes from the fact that it was once only available to the Kandyan royalty. Covering 80 hectares of land, this is Sri Lanka's largest and most impressive botanical garden.

The Temple of the Tooth

Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Golden Temple or Temple of the Tooth, is a revered Buddhist place of worship as it houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. A striking feature of the temple is the golden canopy, which makes it easy to spot from a distance.

Real people, real experiences

How they experienced it

We arranged to meet up at the hotel when we had settled in. Tony's son met us and arranged our tours.
Our first trip was the Madu river safari which was excellent. Tony is a very knowledgeable man and explained a lot about Sri Lankan culture. We released the turtles into the sea and adopted some eggs. Hopefully there will be survivors from this.
The prices of the trips were affordable and good value for money.
Please ensure you have Sri Lankan currency for your trips as you pay out tips.
We also went on the Kandy tour. This again is excellent. The elephants to the Temple of the tooth were all memorable trips that are precious memories.
Tony does look after you and wants you to enjoy the tours. Which we did. They are worth the money you pay. We would have done more tours but they were all day and we were very tired afterwards. (We are in our 50's)
It was my birthday on the Kandy tour and Tony had the minibus decorated and bought a little birthday cake for a treat. He made it special.
Excellent tour guide and he has a heart of gold.
A lovely man. Nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you 🙏🏻
