"I found Tony Sri Lanka Tours on TripAdvisor when looking for a local tour guide based in Ahungalla. We couldn't recommend him enough, as his service was amazing. To start with, we booked a 3-day trip - we started off first day with Uduwalawa National Park, the Elephant Transition Home, Ella, the Nine Arch Bridge, a hike to Little Adam's Peak, followed by an overnight stay at the beautiful boutique hotel Morning Dew (the view from this hotel was breathtaking). On the second day, we embarked on a train journey, which is one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. It was well worth waking up at 5 am; I have never seen such beautiful landscapes. Once we reached our destination, we jumped into the car and drove through beautiful roads overlooking tea plantations, ending up at the Damro Tea Factory. After this, we visited the oldest post office in Sri Lanka and saw a couple of beautiful waterfalls on the way to Kandy. The second night, we spent in Kandy, where we attended a Kandy cultural dance show, which was amazing, and finished off the night with a visit to a Buddhist temple. On the last day of our 3-day trip, we headed to the Botanical Garden, where we had a guided tour. The botanical garden was very beautiful with different types of trees and plants. Honestly, we couldn't fault anything throughout this 3 day trip.
Since we enjoyed this trip, we decided to book another trip to Galle. On the way to Galle, we visited the Sea Turtle Hatchery, where our son had the opportunity to release several sea turtles into the ocean. He absolutely loved the experience. This was followed by a Madu River safari boat tour, which was very enjoyable; we have never seen such beautiful landscapes. Even our 3-year-old enjoyed the boat trip. We have also seen Stilt Fisherman's and lots of other places.
Overall, all the trips were very well-planned and thought-through, with several stops at each destination to stretch our legs or try local fruits from the locals. Since our son enjoyed releasing sea turtles into the ocean a couple of days before leaving Sri Lanka, we contacted Tony again, and he took us to the Hatchery again. Our son was extremely excited to have another opportunity to release more turtles.
